Collecting and storing the Internet on your PC can become a reality with Web Scraping!
The obsession with technology and its change of data with a terrible acceleration has become one of the features of the times in which we live, as a growing passion for innovating mechanisms that facilitate diving in this very accurate and renewable technical world. Which includes banner images and digital data that you want to store in your computer, one of the most important challenges that will face you how to store this information, what are the methods that you will use to reach your data storage quickly and smoothly in smart and safe scientific ways? Imagine that you are in a room crowded with files, you see how you will be able to store what is around you without the contents of the files affected. This is what will be discussed in this article.
Various alternatives you can try!
Before we delve into explaining the available storage alternatives accurately and extensively, we must review a set of mechanisms available for storage and storage that have proven limited and contain a large number of deficiencies, the most important of which are: copy and paste, the advantage of screen shot and other methods that most users are used to, in fact each These methods are traditional, not intended for web professionals, in addition to the fact that some information is not able to copy and paste without distorting the general structure of the data, you undoubtedly need a contemporary method as a technology that allows you to extract information exactly as it is published in the chosen site, we are now talking about web scraping technology Which is equivalent to the term web scraping or web scraping in our Arabic language.
Scraping the web ... a modern technical term!
Through the proposed designation of this mechanism, meaning "crawling and scraping the web," the concepts and definitions attributed to it can be restricted to the following:
It is a simple way to extract all the data and information found in any website available on the World Wide Web in the form of pictures, data and tables .... Ready to use without the need for complicated codes to convert from HTML “HyperText Markup Language” data into Excel, XML-CSV or JSON data.

What are the best tools available?
Hundreds of tools, programs and applications have been developed to simulate the work of web crawling and embodiment on different computers of users around the world. Tools differ, but the goal is the same, which is data collection and storage on the computer. The difference lies in the speed of conversion and the mechanism of the program in general, the ability to search directly in the program and download at the same time without the need for a URL thanks to an editor linked to the browser ... Among this huge number of tools to you, separate the tools according to the technical features and the smarter mechanisms that make any programmer or businessman happy Looking for the best to facilitate his work:
Scraper chrome
It is one of the most used tools to extract data using a sitemap "XMP file" to download data from sites that include this activity in the form of CVS files, completely free of charge and completely safe.
octoparse
It scrapes data in an organized way according to the Excel - text - HTML files for your computer's 24-hour download base. It decodes very complex data codes after activating advanced mode (for more on this program, read more on this link).
Why do we use web crawl technology?
Web Scraping technology is mainly aimed at owners of companies and seasoned programmers, it is well-known in the field of electronic commerce and competitive intelligence that builds the local and global economy thanks to the processes of obtaining information from "commercial, economic and administrative" competition sites such as product prices and important data and reports that include official statistics and the conditions of markets and exchanges ... i.e. in short, web scraping technology constitutes a golden field for business management, exchange of experiences and comparison of products to form a strong competition between the parties that form the basis of the world of business and contemporary technologies, in addition to this, Web Scraping helps beginners programmers to obtain and modify the content of websites, play with content and get required information.
How do we extract data from the Internet?
You can obtain data from a specific web page by following easy steps by using one of the programs listed above or by programming and writing a program that relies on different python libraries such as: Requests or Beautiful Soup.
Specify the URL of the page from which you want to extract data.
Verify that it is the correct page.
Search for the data you specifically want to extract "It can be a document, text or part of text ..."
Write the code that extracts this data for you.
Store the data obtained by any means you wish.

The AMD Gaming PC - Ryzen + Radeon 7 2020
- Hey guys, this is Austin. You might remember this, the streaming that we built last year featuring Ryzen 7 2700X. The only issue is that, well, it hasn't exactly seen a lot of love recently. But lucky for us, there's just a little bit of an upgrade courtesy of our friends over at AMD, who are launching Radeon 7 today. We got to take a quick look at Radeon 7 at CES, but this is essentially the new high-end Radeon card from AMD. Now, really, the target here is very much more along the lines of an RTX 2080, and with a $700 price tag, this certainly does not come cheap. Okay, so not only do we have our graphics card, but we also have, wow, this is heavy (laughing), the GPU itself. So do you remember back when Vega 64 came out, they also sent us a reviewer's kit with the GPU. However, here it's a little bit different. So if you take a close look, you'll see that not only do you have the actual Radeon 7 GPU itself, but you also have the HBM2 memory which is on all four sides. Personally, I just love taking a look at this kind of stuff. So unlike Vega, this is a little bit more of a beefy cooler. We do have three fans, and, oh yeah, look at that. It fits pretty much perfectly. Dude, that looks really cool!If you put Radeon 7 side-by-side with Vega 64, at least for the reference coolers, they look very similar, although of course with this guy, we're getting the triple fan set up and honestly what looks like a much-beefier heatsink on the inside. Essentially what you're getting here is a cut-down version of their much more expensive cards, but because it is still based on that seven-nanometer process, it should be a pretty decent performer. There's only one way to find that out. Let me guess, are there multiple ways? But I'm just gonna test it now. So to properly put Radeon 7 through its paces, I've gathered its closest competitors, not only the RTX 2080 as well as the 2080Ti, but also that Vega 64. At this point, I've benchmarked all the cards inside our Ryzen system, so now it's time to give Radeon 7 a try. So while Time Spy runs, I have a power meter if you can see on this, oh, oh, okay, I can do this, I can do this. I have a power-- (power meter button clicks)(Austin laughing)I can't believe I actually did that. Dude, who put the power strip, the thing for the button for the power strip on the side? All right, let's try Time Spy one more time. So power consumption looks pretty decent. We're at 382 watts versus 342 on the 2080as well as just over 400 with Vega as well as the 2080Ti. Not a massive difference, but considering that it's a similar card to Vega except with much higher clock speeds well as that seven-nanometer process, you know, it could be worse. And we've got 8647. Ooh, that's not so hot. So it's a little bit faster than Vega 64, but that is significantly behind both the 2080and especially the 2080Ti. Gotta say, if that's really the case and the benchmarks we try are similar to that, I'm gonna be pretty disappointed with the Radeon 7. All right, next up we have GTA V. Now this is running essentially maxed out at 4Kwith the exception of MSAA is set to 2X. Let's see how it performs. So for reference, the 2080, which this really should be competing with, delivered about 56 FPS here, so that's definitely what we need to hit, or at least get as close as possible, so. We're not terrible, it's definitely faster than Vega, but that's still behind the 2080 for the most part. And our result is 48. 5. Yeah, I mean, that's better than Vega, but it's not (chuckling), that's behind the 2080by a pretty significant margin. I mean, it's an improvement over what you're getting on Vega 64, but the issue is that this card costs $700, the same as the RTX 2080, and so far, you're not quite getting that level of experience. Performance? Now there are some advantages to Radeon 7. So you do have double the memory. This has 16 gigs of RAM versus eight which is on the 2080, and for some applications, I mean, games aren't really pushing more than 8 gigs of RAM yet, but a lot of video editing stuff can and 3D rendering can hit 10, 12, 13 gigs of RAM. It's cool, too, right? You've got the same amount of VRAM for your graphics card as I have for entire system RAM with this guy. So, I mean, it's cool there's stuff that you can do with 16 gigs of RAM, but I care much more about the actual performance. Having a little bit of a future-proof, I don't think that changed my mind. Next, we have Fortnite. Again, we're running full 4K Epic settings, pretty much everything completely maxed out here. For reference, we were able to get just about 60 FPS on the RTX 2080. Look, Fortnite's hard to benchmark. You can't get the exact same scenarios over and over again. I want to try to at least be in the same location and keep things as consistent as possible. Yeah, I'll call that about 49 FPS. It's, again, better than Vega 64, but what we're really lacking here is any kind of real win for the Radeon 7 yet. It's fine, I mean, it's not bad. We are able to play a lot of 4K games close to 60 FPS maxed out, but close to 60 FPS is not the same as 60 FPS, which is pretty much what the RTX 2080 is giving us. So with Black Ops, we're able to run it again 4K maxed out. The only thing I'm doing isI'm just turning the anti-aliasing down to Medium, but besides that, we should be good. Now for reference, we were able to get72 FPS on the 2080 like this, so let's see what Radeon 7 will give us. Also, the GPU's at 99 degrees right now? What, no!Whoa, whoa, whoa, we're pulling, like,420 from the wall now. That's, like, 70, no 40, 50 more watts then we were pulling earlier?Okay, if you ignore the ridiculous temperature, Black Ops is actually taking advantage of all of our memory. Look at that, we're at 10 gigs of RAM?Is it gonna hit a limit at some point? It's just going up. It's just (chuckling), it's just going up. Now, I mean, I guess, the standard sort of thing applies. This is pre-release, I don't have final drivers, so there could be some weird bugs, but nothing that I was reading about said anything about (chuckling) this. I mean, performance is actually pretty good here. I mean, we're getting 75 to 80 frames per second. And you know what, the VRAM actually has stabilized. It's using about 13. 5 gigs, which is ridiculous, but you know what, if you've got 16 gigs of RAM, why not?Yeah, you know what, that VRAM usage actually looks accurate. We were using about 15 gigs of RAM. Everything makes much more sense today. So Black Ops was actually telling the truth. After doing a little bit of digging, AMD has actually changed the way they report the temperature on the new GPUs. So as opposed to the edge temperature which just shows, like, 70, 74 degrees, which is still the limit, instead it now also shows the top temperature of the entire GPU which is known as the junction temperature, and that actually can run up to 110 degrees safely. And it did confirm that, yes, Black Ops does actually use more than 8 gigs of RAM. Whether or not that makes a big difference to performance kinda hard to tell, but it did match the 2080. So like the other games, we are running Battlefield 4K, DX12 enabled, and pretty much everything's on Ultra. The main difference is that there's no ray tracing enabled since I want to keep things fair between the Radeon as well as the GTX cards, or the RTX cards. So for reference, the RTX 2080 delivered about48 FPS in Battlefield 1. Let's see what Radeon 7 can do. This pretty much bogs out around 50, 51 FPS, so this is actually the first game that we've seen the Radeon 7 do better than the RTX 2080. All right, I call that 51. There is some legitimately cool stuff with the Radeon 7. The fact that it's the first seven-nanometer GPU is interesting, but the main thing holding it back is that it's essentially a Vega 64that has been shrunk down, given higher core clocks well as more memory, but at its, well, core,it's still pretty much the Vega that we've had for the last couple years. It comes close to the 2080, but it can't quite take the win, not unless you're really taking advantage of more than that 8 gigs of RAM. So I'm curious, would you want to pick up the Radeon 7or the RTX 2080, or would you rather just not spend $700on a graphics card?

Building the Ultimate Gaming Setup
Hey guys, this is Austin, and this is Ultimate Gaming Setup 2. 0. So, a big shout out to LG for sponsoring this video and letting us build this awesome setup. The star of the show is the new SJ9 Sound Bar. I end up using soundbars a lot, not only for my personal setup but here in the office. The big reason for that is that while my full surround sound system sounds nice, I don't know. I'm always a little bit nervous about like, annoying my neighbors about stuff, whereas, with a soundbar, I actually feel a lot better about being able to just crank the volume and not have to worry about it. This is a lot bigger than stuff I usually unbox. We've got the remote and the soundbar. So Ken measured this and the soundbar should be pretty much the exact width of not only the TV but the stand. After looking at this giant box, I was expecting the soundbar to be bigger. What's cool about this, is it actually has some top firing speakers for Atmos support. I'm not totally sure how well this space is going to work with Atmos. The idea is that to get a little bit more of a to surround sound feel, and not only is it sending sound at you, but it's also bouncing sound off of the ceiling, which in theory should give you a much more surround sound. This is actually a lot thinner than I thought it was going to be. So, (laughs) will it actually fit?It looks like it's gonna be close. Oh! All right, you know what?Props to Ken, this actually fits literally perfectly. It actually touches both edges, but it doesn't go over. That's actually pretty cool. We also have in the middle of this, a subwoofer, which is not small. All right, so that whole thing about not being able to annoy the neighbors. I take it back. All right. So I may have slightly misjudged how big this was. It still should fit with the setup though. So, we're actually gonna be doing some interesting stuff beyond just the sound part of our gaming setup. So Ken has spent the last couple days building this. So essentially it's a way of getting the TV off the table and actually floating. So not only does that mean that we have plenty of clearance for our speaker, but because of this cool design of having a couple pieces of wood here with the mount, we can actually also just move the TV easily. So the setup is actually starting to come together, but we have a lot of work to do, as you might be able to tell. So, montage time!(electronic music)So after a frantic afternoon of work, we have the setup, and it actually looks pretty good. So, a lot is going on here. But to start, we actually have a TV. Paired with the SJ9 Sound Bar is a 55 inch LG E6 TV. So not only is this OLED, but it also supports 4K and HDR. Almost more important than resolution though, is that OLED display. Seriously, a good OLED TV looks so, so good. Completely puts everything else to shame. But, paired with the SJ9 I'm excited to see, more importantly, hear, what it sounds like. - Hey guys, it's Austin. My voice might be gone, but what isn't the MacBook Air. Why does this still exist in 2017?- All right, that actually sounds pretty good. So the SJ9, not only are we getting that subwoofer, which is way, way bigger than I had thought, but we also have the speakers inside here that give it the 5. 1 surround, and the two top firing speakers. So the way we've got this set up is that we have the PS4 Pro connected to the TV, so we're getting full 4K HDR there, and then the TVs passing audio into the SJ9 via HDMI. That means that not only can we control everything from one spot, but we're also getting the best audio quality. What's cool about this setup is that the actual subwoofer itself is wireless. So besides needing to plug it in, this is a nice, clean setup. And, speaking of the setup, as you can see Savage Kenny has been hard at work. So, not only do we have Waifus, but we also have cool stuff too. So we've got our Pipboy action, more Waifus because this is Ken's setup. Sometimes I have to deal with Waifus to get an areally cool setup. I feel that's a pretty fair trade. We also have our shelf full of Nintendo stuff, including the NES Classic, the Game Boy Color that I unboxed a couple years ago, as well as the Famicom, which is actually something we did a video on and never posted. And on this side, we have another slightly more adorable Waifu, some Lego stuff, thanks to Jimmy, we got a Delorean, PS3, Xbox. It's a cool setup, but all this stuff on the side is just for show. What really counts is what we have inside the console. If you're wondering why I'm standing, it's because there was a certain malfunction with the couch, and it's now in eight pieces right beside Ken. Wa-wa-wa. That sub is actually scaring me a little bit right now. I feel like this is about to actually be loud. (laughs)Yo!That sounds stupid. Can you even hear me right now?Okay, so this is actually really loud. (laughs)That sub has such a punch. I've never heard a sound bar sound like this. I am 100% surprised. You know what it sounds like, especially with that bass? This is gonna sound like a really weird comparison, it sounds like listening to a movie theater. Like it has that huge just punch. Okay, so we didn't quite have time to geteverything wired up yet. Even playing on the Xbox One at 1080o it looks nice. It does sound good too. - A few moments later. - The neighbors literally just knocked. (laughs)All right, I'll turn it down, I'll turn it down. I just love the story of this video. We started out by saying I like using sound barsbecause they don't annoy the neighbors. Then it got really loud and annoyed the neighbors, and now we got complaints. (laughs)Little tip guys, don't crank your sound barup to 100% volume when you're doing a video. (laughs)To be fair, that tells you that it actuallyis really loud. In case you were doubting me, it's, that'spretty good proof.

The Biggest Gaming Monitor Yet...
- Hey guys, this is Austin. We've taken a look at a lot of crazy and over the top setups, but this new monitor might just take the cake. But, before we get started, I wanna give a huge shout to today's sponsor, Varidesk. So this is my editing setup. Now I like to sit down and get some work done, but after a few hours, I really do start to feel unhealthy, which is where the Varidesk comes in. All you do is grab by the handles and pull it up, and it smoothly transitions into being a full standing setup. The flexibility really does help me to feel more focused and productive, so definitely be sure to check out the ProDesk series at the link below, and again, a huge shout out to Varidesk for sponsoring this video. So you may recall a video we did the last year on a 49 inch super ultra-wide Samsung monitor. Now I really like that for gaming, but the problem was that the screen resolution was a little bit low. Sure the actual screen size was massive. It's basically like having two 27 inch panels sort of glued together, but with basically only 4K by 2K resolution, as soon as you got outside of a game it got very blurry very quick. Where as with this, this brings things up a notch. Really the main advantage here is, that this should be much higher resolution. So essentially opposed to having a pair of1080p monitors that are glued together, instead, we have something which is essentially equivalent to a pair of 27-inch 1440p displays. Here normally there's a lot of really weird useless things in the box, but this handling guide actually seems very relevant because this monitor is enormous. I actually don't know how I'm going to get it out. Oh, that's actually kind of cool. So it comes with a USB-C cable in the box, which I guess you can drive the full5K resolution over USB-C. Okay, I gotta try that. I also have a DisplayPort, HDMI all that kind of fun stuff. The only downside with this monitor is that you need to have a properly huge desk to support it. I mean that's just not gonna fit anywhere. Hey guys, today we have the world's largest monitor. (laughs)I feel like I'm in the thumbnail right now. Can you move that foam so I can set this on the table? Okay, so with this giant monitor out of the box, next up is to actually power it, and that is where this comes in. So this is the Zotac MEK Mini. And what better way to pair a giant monitor than with a tiny super powerful gaming PC. See we have a great sense of irony here. At least Ken does. So we've looked at a lot of weird and interesting Zotac systems over the years. This is actually one of the most interesting ones that has caught my eye in quite a while. So inside what you're getting here is pretty properly powerful gaming computer but in a very very small chassis. Awe, it's so cute. So inside this guy, not only do we have a proper Core i7-8700 processor, but there's even a full GTX- sorry RTX 2070. I'm going to keep saying GTX like forever, you realize that right? Slide? Oh, there we go. Wow, that is- that is packed. Okay, so we've got a two Terabyte hard drive as well as what I believe is a 256 gig SSD. We have what looks to be 16 gigs of memory and a fan. What is on this side? So I guess it makes sense that you have easy access to most of your upgradeable parts on this side. I'm curious. I see a few fans inside. How do I open this? Oh, there's a giant not for resale sign on the bottom, AKA this is a review unit, don't open it up dumb--Well actually that's probably not a direct quote from Zotac, but we all know what they mean when they send me something. Oh, that's why it's so small.

The Cleanest Gaming Laptop Yet
- Hey guys, this is Austin, and this is about the cleanest gaming laptop, you'll ever find. This video is sponsored by Lenovo, and this is the Legion Y7000. So if you guys are not familiar, Legion is Lenovo's gaming brand, and they build some really interesting stuff. First of all, take a look at this laptop, you know what you won't find, RGB, or really anything that sort of screams gamer. This is a very understated design, and I like it. Combine that clean white lighting with the all matte black look, and this is a seriously different gaming laptop. And it's also helped by the fact that this is a nice soft-touch material as well. Performance is definitely it's a strong suit, with the Y7000, inside you'll find a Core i7-8750H, this is the latest generation 8th gen processor. Which importantly has not only six cores, but also a boost clock of up to 4. 1GHz. Now sure, games are becoming more and more multithreaded to take advantage of that six-core processor. Where I really notice the biggest difference is in multitasking. Even when I have a ton of programs and tabs up, maybe I'm doing something like installing a game in the background or trying to stream, it does hold up. That i7 is backed up by a full Nvidia GTX 1060, with six gigs of RAM, so this is a really good combination for a gaming laptop like this, especially when it comes to playing at 1080p, 1060 has absolutely no problems. This 1080p panel is pretty solid, it's a full 15. 6 inches and importantly, it does have a pretty brightness around 300 nits from that IPS display. I will say there is a lot of configurations with this laptop, so my model has 16 gigs of RAM, which is backed up by a 128 gig SSD, and a one terabyte hard drive. But you can option this down to eight gigs of RAMif you want, you can also go for pure SSD storage, and one of the cooler upgrades is a full 144Hz panel. Personally, I would opt for that 144Hz display, this actually has enough power to play a lot of games, not only maxed out at 1080p but well above 60 frames per second. We are not dead yet, that's always a great sign. So Fortnite is absolutely no problem for the system, we're easily able to play at 1080p, with fully maxed settings. And we're getting somewhere in the70 to 80 frame per second range. That 144Hz panel would absolutely be paying off right now, also did you guys see I didn't die there?- [Matt] Austin, can we seriously play something else?- Wait wait, why not, don't you wanna see more Fortnite?- [Matt] Nooo. - What do you wanna play?- [Ken] Black Ops. - [Matt] Black Ops. - Black Ops, oh, oh I just died, so I guess we have to play Black Ops now, fine. No more Fortnite, look at the settings here. Yo shout out to whoever made this one, Treyarch, this is actually really really nice. We got global illumination qualities, subsurface scattering, wow this is actually a proper PC port. Oh, that's a lot of dudes, oh wow are you serious, everyone's dropping right here?Oh, this is bad, this is really bad. Listen to those speakers. It actually sounds really good. So this does have Harman Kardon audio, it has a pair of the front-firing speaker which sound pretty good to me. Performance seems to be pretty solid, so we are running with pretty much full, maxed out settings at 1080p, and right now, I'm getting about 80 frames, the lowest I've really seen though is around the 60 marks, where, where is that coming from? How did I actually shoot him? (jazzy music)Wow! Now this is not the thinnest gaming laptop around, but it is fairly portable, it's only a little bit over an inch thick and it weighs about five pounds. Realistically this is a nice sweet spot between a super thin and very expensive gaming laptop, as well as much thicker. It's got good thermals, but it's also something that you can actually, you know, fit in your backpack. Or I don't know, Ken what do you do with gaming laptops, where do you put them?- [Ken] On my desk. (laptop clatters)- Here's the test, I can easily hold the laptop in one hand, no problem, that my friends, is the gaming laptop portability test. One of the interesting design decisions to slightly raise the screen and the hinge to give more room for the thermals underneath. So basically all of the hot air is being exhausted out the back and it still does leave room for most of your ports. The selection is pretty solid, so there is a USB-C port, which sadly doesn't split Thunderbolt 3, but it's still appreciated. We do have a mini DisplayPort, USB-A, as well as HDMI and gigabit Ethernet. And on the left and right side of the laptop, we have another pair of USB-A ports, giving you a grand total of three. That's especially appreciated because even though it's nice to have a lot of the ports around back, sometimes, you know, you wanna plug in the flash drive to the side of the laptop. The keyboard is classic Lenovo, which is to say it's about as good as it gets for a laptop. Not only do the keys have that nice very familiar shape, but importantly the feel is pretty much on point. Not only for typing but especially for gaming. The Lenovo Legion Y7000 is a seriously dope gaming laptop. Not only does it have plenty of performance for 1080p gaming and streaming. But importantly not only does it look nice, but it won't break the bank, definitely worth a look.
Is The Switch Still Worth It?
- Hey guys, this is Austin. The Switch is nearly two years old at this point. And while it's absolutely smashed sales records and given Nintendo a very important win after the disaster that was the Wii U, it's now going on sale for the holidays. Which, of course, begs the question: is now the time to buy?You can't talk about the Switch without being impressed with the flexibility of the hardware. Drop it in the dock and you have a proper dedicated console. It's kind of even better as a portable especially when you compare this to the 3DS, it is a way better experience. Detach the Joyconsand you can see one of the many, many ways of playing the Switch. So, now that you have a stand that you can play it in tabletop mode. But you can also sync another controller including the pro controller or even if you're docked you can use the USB controller. There's a lot of different options of playing the Switch. This is clearly what Nintendo wanted the Wii U to be; a tablet-sized console that's actually portable. The Wii U is a good comparison here. A lot of titles from it have imported over to the Switch, including Mario Kart, Splatoon, Toad and, of course, the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. There's a great selection of indie games as well, such as Overcooked 2, as well as Dead Cells and this is a little bit of a trend for the console. Lots of games have found their home on the Switch, especially the ones that aren't super graphically intensive that run really, really nice here. This is also the spiritual successor to the 3DS which means that we're finally getting games such as Pokemon, moving over to a full, proper Nintendo console. For a portable, it's also got some serious power. Take one look at a game such as Wolfenstein and it is hard not to be impressed. Now sure, it's way lower resolution than the PS4, Xbox One but it does look reasonably close and it is incredibly impressive that this is running in a handheld console. Fortnight is a great example. This is a game that runs on basically every device out there but this is the best mobile version on the Switch, mostly thanks to the physical controls. The thing is though, the Switch really doesn't make sense if it's your only dedicated console. Most big AAA games take months to make it to the Switch and that's if they make it at all. And on top of that they generally donut perform as well as other consoles and they cost full price. This is totally fine if you wanna play the excellent Nintendo exclusives. But if you wanna play other games such as Call of Duty, Assassin's Creator Gran Turismo, this is not the console for you. The thing is, both the base PS4 and X Box OneCare cheaper than the Switch and with those console, you are getting a better-dedicated gaming experience. If you don't care about the portable stuff, they make a lot of sense. You also don't have any kind of backward-compatibility or virtual console here. This is bizarre considering that it was Nintendo who kind of pioneered whole idea of doing a virtual console. Both the Wii and the Wii U could play a lot of older games via the virtual console. And on top of that, they could also, you know, work with a disc that you just pop in from your last generation system. Instead, on the Switch, I'm buying Mario Kart for the third time on the second different platform in the last couple of years. Is that just me?I guess Nintendo just has to keep selling those mini consoles, right?Sure, you've got access to some NES games if you pay for Nintendo's online service but well, let's get into that. Both PSN and Xbox Live include current generation games for free every month at opposed to a couple of old NES titles. And on top of that, you actually don't even need to necessarily pay for the Switch online service to play online. Now yes, if you wanna play Smash, for example, online you have to pay. But if you wanna play something like Fortnightyou actually don't have to pay anything because that makes sense. There's also no proper party system, you can't do voice chat on the console itself. While it does support cloud saves doesn't work for all games. The entire online system does just feel a little bit half-baked. I will give them credit, at 20 dollars a year at least the Nintendo Switch online service is less expensive than PSN or Xbox Live. But, well, that makes sense because it's not as good. Probably the biggest reason to hold off on buying a Nintendo Switch right now are the rumors that there'san upcoming Switch Pro due out next year. Supposedly, the Switch will have an upgraded screen as well as potentially a little bit more power. Now, that's all fine and good but if you take one look at the 3DSyou'll know that there is very little chance that the Switch is going anywhere anytime soon. Even though there are upgraded versions of the 3DS available, pretty much all games do support the older version. I expect that to be the exact same case for the Switch. I really do enjoy the Switch. It feels like a glimpse of the future of where consoles are headed over the next few years. Now, of course, with an upgraded version on the horizon, it might not be a crazy idea to hold off and wait. But you could also just not do that, buy a Switch right now and come play Pokemon Smash with the rest of us. Your call.

Razer’s Cheap(er) Gaming Keyboard
- Hey guys, this is Austin. The last time Razer announced a brand new keyboard more than a few of you guys were interested in it. So when they announced a brand new keyboard, which is not only silent but also much cheaper, of course, we have to take a look at it. This is the Razer BlackWidow Lite keyboard. Now at 90 bucks, it's less than half the price of that Huntsman Elite, and with this, you're getting something a little bit more focused on normal use as well as gaming. Pop this guy open and we have the keyboard itself. Now, this is a little bit of a smaller one compared to the Elite, so it is a tenkeyless design, but personally I kind of don't mind that; I would rather have a little bit of extra space. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. So on the box,, it says it has silent switches with included O-rings but I didn't think that the O-rings actually have to be manually installed. Okay, all right, this is not a super cheap keyboard it shouldn't be a surprise, but that decklid feels so sturdy. So we do have the detachable micro USB cable. Now, I would prefer to see this as USB-C but, honestly, I feel like that's still a nice little portable package. I guess we, it's time to remove the keys. I didn't realize I was signing up for a bunch of work with my keyboard here, so we do have our little key removal tool here. I'm not sure why this is included, I mean, maybe the feeling isn't quite as nice with the O-rings on. Let's pop it out for our WASD Keys. (upbeat music)Okay, so if I wrap the O-ring around the switch, I guess that works. Let's pop it back on and see. All right, so this is what a normal switch sounds like. (clicking)And the new one. (clicking lightly)I mean, it makes it a little bit quieter. I guess some people will probably want to install these. For me, I don't see a huge difference unless maybe I'm working in an office, so I really want to keep it as quiet as possible. (clicking)(clicking lightly)It's much quieter. This is how people type. (clacking)Spreadsheets. (clacking rapidly)Excel. (clacking rapidly)KPIs. (moaning) (clacking)Plug the BlackWidow in, and you'll see it's a little bit more of a subdued look. So it is all white LED lighting unlike the higher-end Razer models, which do have full RGB, but considering the price and considering that this is supposed to be a little bit more of a grown-up keyboard, that's no problem. Now, we do still have full Razer Synapse, so we can change the lighting if we like. So right now it's pretty much just dimming to brightening it. You can do the breathing effect, which is fine, but I mean, for the most part, it's either do you want it on or do you want it off. I will say the lights actually are really bright. This almost feels like it's maybe just as bright, if not even brighter, than some of the RGB stuff. So another keyboard that I really like is the TOMOKO. Now, this is a very, very cheap keyboard. It's got the blue knockoff switches, and at only $28, usually this has been my main recommendation for people who are wanting to get into mechanical switches, but if you listen to it (clacking loudly)versus, (clicking softly)I mean, there's a big, big difference in the noise there. What the hell? Wait, I lied. There's one RGB key; it's the Caps Lock. (clicking)Huh, okay, well I guess that's, is that RGB? It's just G. It's a G key, so for gaming it's fine but my main thing is I don't quite have that same kind of tactile feedback that I do on something that's a little bit more clicky, as the blue switches. I mean it's definitely usable, and I think some people actually might prefer something a little bit quieter when gaming, but for me, I don't know, it's a little bit on the, a little bit on the subtle side. we switched over to the Huntsman Elite keyboard. Well, I mean there's a reason why this is my favorite gaming keyboard out right now. First of all, it's got the sound, but almost more important than that, it's a little bit more of a tactile feel, so I click the button, I know that I've hit it, right? There's no sort of, I don't say, vagueness but it's not loose. It's all very, very tight, and it feels like I'm actually properly losing in Overwatch. That's my favorite thing is when I lose in Overwatch, are you serious right now? There you go. At $90, the Razer BlackWidow Lite is a little different than a lot of the mechanical keyboards I take a look at. Instead of being purely focused on gaming, this is a little bit more of subtle design, so it's got the white LED, the all matte black plastic, and on top of that, it's a very quiet keyboard. So you want something great for typing, the Lite is definitely worth a look. If you want something a little bit more focused on gaming though, there are definitely other options.

Building The Ultimate Mac Pro
- Hey guys, this is Austin! And today it is time to upgrade Matt's 2010 Mac Pro?- Yeah, 2010. - Okay so, Matt has had an unfortunate incident recently that his dog broke his iMac screen. So, to hook him up, we're gonna do a little bit of a project and see what we can actually upgrade with his original Mac Pro. Also, if you guys don't know Matt, he's the one who runs This Is and makes fun of me on Mystery Tech. - It's true. - This is not a stock 2010 Mac Pro, right? It still works right now, but you wanna basically see if you can get it a little bit less garbage?- Yeah, like, I've done some modifications with it. These are all USB two and there's no way to really change that. So then I needed USB three, so I got this card here, which has worked really well for me but it needed dedicated power. It wouldn't run off the PC IE. - Wait, so did you, this came with an optical drive right?- It has two optical bays. The door doesn't like to close. (laughing)Turns out, there's nothing meant to be right here. - So you've upgraded this several times over the years that you've owned the Mac Pro. - Yes. - [Austin] So what are you doing with the Mac Pro once we're done rebuilding it?- So I do video editing. - When was the last time you cleaned this? There's literally like an inch of dust on your graphics card. - [Matt] Probably never. - [Austin] Woo!- [Matt] This was an off-road, uh. - Off road?- Yeah, so when I--- So actually, you travel with this?- Yeah. - So can you run me through the spec of this guy?So this is 2010, is it a quad core?- [Matt] It is a quad core,I think 2. 6 gigahertz Xeon. - The first thing is,we should upgrade the CPU. If you're rocking the quad-core, this goes up to, what is it, like 10 cores, 12 cores?- It can do 12 cores maximum. - You've already got the hard drives. I think maybe we just swap out this SSD for something that's just a little bit more modern, a little bit quicker. So we've got a task here. So I think the next step is I need to do some googling and find some parts and let's see if we can get this upgraded and back to 2019 specs. So it has been about, what, two weeks now?- Two weeks. - And we have everything we need for the ultimate Mac Pro. - Matt Pro. - The Matt Pro, apologies. So, the way that the Mac Pro works, is that while you can buy the CPUs, you can also buy the entire tray, which essentially is the motherboard. - We could have gone to a six core with a little bit better clock speed, but the real upgrade is going to the dual socket. - Yes, so essentially what we have here are a pair of six-core processors. Now it might not sound super impressive, thank you very much,in this sort of modern era where we have, you know, what, 32 cores in Threadripper, but 12 cores was a lot of power, especially for 2010. One of the interesting things about this is that the entire upgrade was actually not that expensive. So we were able to get the tray, which of course, is the motherboard,as well as the two CPUs for a little bit over $500. Now this is like a what?Like a $6500 config when it first came out?- Yeah, and that's not including the memory we got with it. - Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. So we also had to get, we got 64 gigs as you can see my giant pile of dents here. I mean I guess you do have the limitation that single thread is probably not gonna be super impressive, but what we're using it for primarily like editing. - I do play the occasional game on it. - [Austin] Well you'll definitely be able to game. - Oh yeah, I love my Civilization. - Boom, so with that, we have upgraded from a quad-core to a 12 core. And this entire setup with the new tray, the dual CPUs, the 64 gigs of RAM, still cost us only about $700, which obviously is a fair bit, but considering that if you would have bought this 2010, it would have been at least 10 times that. Really not a bad upgrade. - So we went with a RX 580 AMD card. This is pretty much the maximum that the system can handle. - This is the original connector. It's a pair of six pins. - [Matt] Correct. - [Austin] And you've adapted the six to an eight, which. - [Matt] Already is bad. - Alright, let's pull the 760 out. So this is actually built-in support for a longer CPU. - Mm-hmm, yes. - Oh, interesting. Actually, have we even measured to see if the Strix card will fit?- On paper. I mean, it, I eyeballed it. - It'll be fine. - [Matt] It looked like it'll be. - It'll be fine. Oh we didn't clean this out. Why is there already a 14 terabyte hard drive in here?- I got excited. - Well okay then, so apparently, Matt's stealing company property and installing a 14 terabyte hard drive in his Mac Pro. - So when we started this project,it was running Sierra. And so we wanted to go to Mojave because we needed that for the graphics card support. But it wouldn't let us upgrade it until we upgraded the firmware of the motherboard. But there's a fun little problem with that, is the only way to update the firmware if you have the original EFI graphics card. So we found a guy in town who had one and let us borrow is just to update the firmware. You're covered in dust right now. - I know! Why didn't you clean your dirty computer?- I thought that's what you were doing. - No, I'm upgrading it with like 12 cores and stuff!I'm not cleaning. Do I look like a cleaning service?- [Matt] Full service, man. - What, that's (mumbling). So with that, we have our 12 core CPU,16 gigs of RAM, and our RX 580. Next, let's upgrade your SSD. So with that, we've got a one terabyte SSD. I think it's time to see if this thing actually works. Matt, would you like to do the honors?- Yeah!Oh, it'd help to take off my Powered By EVGA. - Nah, it's fine, it's fine,it's powered by EVA. Oh!- See a little RGB going here?- Yeah. - [Matt] Hey, it works!- [Austin] There you go!Alright. So we go up to about this mac. We see, there you go. Two three gigahertz six-core Intel Xeon. Hey, 64 gigs, okay cool. So all of our eight gig Dems are showing up. So for reference, we're going from a quad-core Xeon the way up to a pair of six-core CPUs and we're going from eight gigs to 64 gigs of RAM. Now Geekbench I think should show a fairly substantial difference, especially in the multicore. 2734, 20,000 on the multicore! So single core obviously is not that impressive. I mean, it's essentially a 10 year old processor. But 20,000 on the multicore for a 2010 system. That's ridiculous. - So for reference, before the upgrade, the single core was 2175and the multicore was 7600. - Wow, that is a huge difference. Next up, we have Cinebench. Now not only will this test the CPU, but I'm also curious to see how much higher the GPU score is. So, especially when you consider that this started out with a 5770. I mean, a 580's going to be,five, six times faster, eight times the memory. I mean, it's a massive, massive difference. So we're going from 43 to 59. That's not that good. Oh dude, look at that!I never get tired of seeing like a million threads in up for Cinebench. So you know what's crazy with this? It's not actually that expensive when you consider it, right? So what do you think it would have cost to first of all buy your original Mac Pro chassis and just do the tray upgrade with the memory and stuff?- I mean, I've seen the original chassis anywhere from 250 to about 450. The six core CPUs you can get for like 180,which is bananas how cheap that is. And then the 580s I've seen for 175 brand new. - So, realistically, all of the upgrades we've done to this system are about $1,000. Maybe a little bit more considering that we have the one, well okay, the 14 terabyte drive is like $500. - That's overkill. - We're gonna ignore that part of it. To really put this to the test,we have our resident editing man, Jimmy Champagne. - That's me!I'm here. - So we are editing off of an external SSD. So we're using this little Samsung T5which is plugged into Matt's USPC card. - [Jimmy] So that's pretty standard. - Yeah, which is what we edit all of our videos on. But it seems to be fine. - So now we're gonna try and sync the footage, see how quick that goes. That went as quick as it does on the iMac Pro. We'll do better quality. - This is unrendered 4k pro res right now. Oh, we're getting your texts. Uh oh, this is bad. - Is this a woman?(laughing)- Oo, Matt got quiet fast. - [Jimmy] Background render is a little lower than the iMac Pro. - Wait, so basically, you have a 10 core iMac. - Yeah. - Which is obviously faster. But when you compare this to something like a MacBook or an iMac, this is still more powerful. - I'd say it's noticeably faster than the MacBook but noticeably slower than the iMac Pro. So it's falling somewhere between. - Which is pretty impressive for a nine-year-old desktop which we just Frankensteined together with like less than $1,000 worth of products. So that my friends is building the ultimate Matt Pro. For something that's this old, the amount of power we were able to get, especially considering the price is super, super impressive. So if you'll excuse me,I'm going to buy a lot more of these and have some fun. That actually sounded really ominous, like as if I'm gonna build some supercomputer out of Mac Pros. I'm actually not gonna buy any more of these. - [Matt] Aw.

How to Build a Gaming PC 2019
I'm here with a brand new $500 gaming PC build except this one, well, these guys built it. While I was out of the office for a day, Ken and Jimmy took it upon themselves to get a little creative with the next PC build. - What do we want the PC to actually look like though?- It definitely needs a window. We could easily do like a bloody handprint from the inside. You know, like a little saw trap or something?- Oh yeah. - So where do you want us to start, a case first?Okay, so that's like right in the front, so that's easy enough. So I feel like if we, these are usually in the back corner. - Yeah, Jimmy knows like the layouts and stuff. - This one has the exact same layout as the one in Michigan. - Look at this guy. - Are we going for full sizes like ATX or microATX or what?- I think we go for ATX and work back. - Okay, 49. 99. - That's cheap, and it got a window and look the slots. - Oh, it's got red accents. - Alright, if we wanted to do just straight up a 500-watt card or 500-watt power supply. - That's hard to beat $18. - A cheap power supply like this might is not the craziest thing. - This looks really cheap like the box looks really cheap. - It feels like a fireworks box. - This looks marginally better. - Yeah okay, that one is $30. - $30, okay so we'll put this. - [Austin] Questionably cheap power supply in hand, Ken and Jimmy moved on to making some more mistakes. - That Penny owned G 4400. - [Jimmy] Is only 55. - Is only $55, so this motherboard costs $60. - [Jimmy] Which is cheap. - Which is pretty cheap. - We're still, I think we're still under budget. - I think we're doing pretty fine right now. So if we get this, let's say right?- Yeah, is there a big difference between just a 1050 and a 1050TI?This one's only $93 bucks. - Yeah no, I think if we wanted to go super budget, that might not be the worst move. - So we penny crunched a little bit but we have littlebit more money to spend here. - Yeah, so we're gonna look out for some SSD which they're actually reasonably priced. - [Austin] So naturally, the next place to goes the Halloween store because of reasons. - I mean that looks like the best one. 'Cause glow in the dark will probably not look good inside the area. - I think this is good, this one's really fake looking. - This one, this is the one that we want. - If we get a little bit of fake blood and put it on that, it'll look a lot better. $10, so we're good, this is $4, so we have a little bit of extra money to spend here. Is there like a little thing where we can get like some spiders or. - Oh, let's get like fake, like fake spiders and stuff. $3 each, so how much money do we have left?- Like $13. - So let's get two. - So we just finished the Halloween decoration portion of this and I think we did pretty well. - Yeah, like so we walked out of there spending $23so if my math is right, I think we have $4 leftover. - Yeah, so we're actually under budget here Austin, you should be pretty proud of us on this one. - So we've been sitting in about three hours worth of traffic to come back to work but we got all of our stuff for our PC but we also got some Halloween stuff to help design this thing and make it our own. Like I've never actually done any case mods beforehand I think this is the nine-year-old arts and crafts version of what every other PC YouTuber does but I'm excited. (Jimmy laughs)(grooving hip-hop beat)Alright, so Jimmy did a really awesome job putting all of the spider webs in here. We got some not actual spiders but some really okay looking like classic spiders but they'll do the job. - They'll look good in the light. - Exactly, and now Jimmy is going to do the blood and splatter on the glass for the inside of the case. - So I'm gonna do a little bit of black just to. - Yeah, add texture to it. - Make it look like a scary movie. - That's good. - Alright, so I'm gonna get my over-sized hand just nice and, I want to make sure there's not a lot of black on there. Just gonna do a real perfect, aw. - Do like a slide, like a taper off. - I don't know if it'll ruin it. - [Ken] Oh. (laughs)- There we go. Oh my god, I'm so happy about this. (laughs)Oh my god, that actually looks really good. So hopefully it dries well, I'm going to go wash this off my hands now because I don't want it to dry on me. - We've got all the cable management out of the way,we've got our graphics thing sorted out,we got Windows installed,- We got webbed up. - We got even more webbed up. - So now we're gonna spin it around, get it all going, we're gonna turn it on. - Get a load of this. - In its finished form. Oh my god guys, we've been at this all day. Gotta say, I'm pretty stocked, this is awesome. - Ready, woo, oh my god. - I gotta see this. - Whoa, that looks. (laughs)That is so sick, oh and you can see the little spider in there, that is so good, it's so good. - We haven't played any games yet and honestly it is11:13, I don't think we're gonna play games tonight but we will try to come out tomorrow and reveal the whole thing to Austin and hopefully, he'll like it. - So I was gone on Friday and these guys took the lead on building the PC but from the little bits that I've heard so far, they may have gone a little bit over the top with it. - [Jimmy] There you go. - (laughs) Whoa, this is actually really cool. I was expecting this to be terrible, no offense. This is actually really cool. - [Ken] Yeah, don't worry,we thought it was going to be terrible too. - The cable management is sufficiently spooky,I'm already terrified. Alright, I gotta crack this open, let's see what you guys got here. - I also like the narrative too, like the hand. - Yeah, so basically the hand was trying to escape and then like punched out the front. - [Ken] Exactly, yeah. - Ah, have no idea where my graphics card is. - [Ken] It is a 560, an RX 560. - A 560, okay? And some intel, what is this?A B250, is like a Pentium or something?- [Ken] Yeah, it's a Pentium 4400 G 44. - Okay, I'm pretty excited although what is this power supply?- [Ken] It is a not A+ and it was only $23. - That's a no, don't do that. Why would you buy a $23 power supply?- [Jimmy] Because it was 681 watts. - No it's not. (all laugh)- Our main goal was literally just to get this game running. I wish I had an audio, what's going on?- [Jimmy] Yeah, so you would be able to hear them coming. - Alright, I'm just gonna die, that's fine. Oh, there it is. So if you guys want to catch more spooky PC builds with these guys, make sure to subscribe to the channel if you'll excuse me, I'm going to play some Outlast and probably die a bunch more.

Is the Surface Book 2 a MacBook Pro Killer?
Hey guys, this is Austin. This is the MacBook Pro,and it is Apple's most expensive laptop. Now this is actually computer that we've edited all of our videos for the last year on. However, starting at $2,400, it does not come cheap. That's where Microsoft comes in with the new Surface Book 2. Now full disclosure. They actually did send this out for review. However, as a laptop starting at $2,500,I'm curious to see how it stacks up. So I actually did a video on the original Surface Booka couple of years ago and it was a very, very weird concept. So the idea here is that you're getting a computer that on the surface looks very much similar to something like a MacBook, but you can actually detach the screen and turn it into a tablet. Pop this guy open, and the first thing we see is the well, the Surface Book itself. What really makes this unique is the hinge. So as you can see, when you close the laptop, it actually doesn't go completely flat, and that's because, so if you press the button here for a second, what you'll be able to do is remove the actual tablet. Put these two side by side, and at first glance, they look pretty similar but there are a ton of differences. So first of all, while they do have 15-inch displays each, the port selection is very different. Where the MacBook has four Thunderbolt 3 ports, two on either side, the Surface instead has a single USB Chaired with a Surface connector for charging and docking, but importantly, it also two full-size USB A ports and an SD-card reader. When it comes to screens, it is really hard to argue with either of these laptops, but the Surface is slightly sharper, with a resolution of 3240 by 2160compared to 2880 by 1800 on the MacBook, and the Surface has the added benefit of being a touchscreen. Where the Surface Book 2 really excels is in performance. So inside, it has a Core i7-8650U, a GTX 1060,16 gigs of RAM, and anywhere between 256 gigs and one terabyte of SSD storage. With a GTX 1060 inside, this is going to be a very powerful laptop when it comes to video editing and even gaming. So to put things in context, 1060 is usually what you'd find in fairly high-end gaming laptops, but one of the advantages of the Surface Book is that it's still fairly thin. Microsoft has updated the Surface Book design since the original, so one of the main things is is that you can now open and close it without having to put a hand on it to sort of steady it, and the hinge feels good. So in tablet mode, you do get the full PC experience. So the main thing is you're pretty much losing all the ports besides the headphone jack but what's cool is you can actually just drop it right back on, even backward, and you can have yourself a super cool, even weirder than the usual looking computer. It might be a bit low-key at this point, but I really appreciate the addition of a USB C port. So yeah, it might not be Thunderbolt, but I've actually moved a lot of my accessories USB C at this point, and it is really nice to be able to use a single cable to not only connect to a monitor but to get power into the laptop. Speaking of power, I love the idea that I can use a single power adaptor for not only the laptop but also my Pixel or even a MacBook. I like the keyboard. So the keys are on the stiff side, but unlike on the MacBook, there's actual travel here. Now I do think I slightly prefer the way that the butterfly switches work on the MacBook Pro but you're not going to be disappointed with either of these. Something interesting is that Microsoft slightly tapers the middle of the keyboard and then it comes down on the sides, and it's kind of hard to see this on video, but when actually typing, what it means is that your fingers are going to be slightly elevated, which for me alleviates a lot of wrist strain. The trackpad is decent. So as you'd expect from a Microsoft device, it is a Windows Precision touchpad and that means that not only do you get the additional three-fingered gestures like swiping up to pull up your desktops, but it also tracks really accurately. As good as it might be though,it can't match the MacBook Pro. This trackpad is enormous. I mean seriously, it's like the size of my hand. Now yes, you can totally abide with the Surface, but Apple has the best trackpads in the business. As you'd expect from a device straight from Microsoft, there's basically no bloat in Windows, except there actually kind of is. So in a lot of laptops, this included have a few different preinstalled games such as March of Empires, Candy Crush, and while that's fine on a $300 laptop, when I'm paying over $3,000 for a laptop,I don't want to have any bloatware at all. And sure, it's easy enough to uninstall but it just feels weird that they're trying to make a few extra bucks on something that's this expensive. Where the Surface Book 2 really shines is in performance. So side by side with the MacBook, you can see that for shorter periods and single-threaded tasks, it does hold up pretty well, but on the multi-threaded side, you're going to lose some performance, but the real star of the show here is that GPU. With the GTX 1060 inside, well, you should be using this for video editing. I'm playing some Rocket League. Now I actually will say that with this much power, you can play a lot more demanding games than Rocket League, but even at 2560 by 1600 with pretty much all the settings cranked up, this looks really nice. We're getting anywhere between like 60and 70 frames per second, and because this is Microsoft, there's a little bit of Xbox inside the Surface,as there is an Xbox One wireless radio built in. Now what's interesting about having a GTX 1060in a laptop that's so thin is that besides the battery, the base of it is totally dedicated to cooling it. So yes, it's a little bit loud, but no worse than most gaming laptops, and it's a lot thinner. For 15-inch laptops, battery life actually isn't bad. So the MacBook should go for around 10 hours, where the Surface is rated for up to 17 hours. Now that part of that is because it has two batteries, one in the screen and one in the base, but something to keep in mind with both of these guys that when you're actually doing heavier lifting such as gaming and especially video editing, expect that number to be a lot less. The Surface has a pair of front-firing speakers on the screen and it sounds good, but the MacBook sounds phenomenal. It has two giant speakers beside the actual keyboard and this is hands-down the best-sounding laptopI've ever tried. When it comes to price, both of these laptops are incredibly expensive. So the Surface Book starts at $2,500,but that's only with a 256 gig SSD. Bump that up to 512, and you're at $2,900. The MacBook is $100 cheaper but I don't think that's going to change anyone's mind at this price point. If you can take advantage of the extra GPU horsepower and especially the ability to use stuff like the Surface pen, the Surface dial for maybe something like graphics work, then the Surface can make sense. However, when it comes to the MacBook,it's just a solid laptop all around. It's thinner, it's lighter, and while the touch bar might seem like a gimmick, it really doesn't affect the actual laptop itself, and stuff like Touch ID is actually really helpful to have. The Surface does have a wider variety of ports, but I've got to say over the last year, having four Thunderbolt 3 ports on the MacBook has come in handy quite a bit. The Surface Book 2 might be the most incredibly engineered laptop you can buy today. Everything from the hinge, which while maybe not perfect, is actually a really clever way of doing something like thisto cramming everything you need for a full 15-inch PC into the thin screen, they've done an incredible job. However, the MacBook kind of wins in its simplicity. Both of these laptops are available in a smaller 13-inch size, and in that comparison, the GTX 1050 inside the smaller Surface book is a major contender with the MacBook Pro. However, when you look at the 15-inch sizes, the Surface Book is a hard sell. So what do you guys think about the new Surface Book 2?Let me know in the comments below and I will catch you in the next one.

Borinator $500 Gaming PC Build - October 2015
- Hey guys, this is Austin. And today, we're here to do a $500 gaming PC build. Right?- Right. - So the plan is,we need to get out of here with $500 worth of parts. Trying to get, like, an idea of, like, prices around here. This all looks roughly what I would see in the U. S. No, nevermind, I take it back. - Yeah, so that would be like $150. - Okay, it's way more expensive here. This may be a slight problem. - Oh. . . - $300 power supply!- Oh. . . - Welcome to Canada!- I'm just realizing how screwed we might be right now. - Pro-tip to how to shop at NCIX:- Okay. - You don't walk around in the aisles. You look at what's on the Weekly Special. - Okay, that-that looks good. - 1TB drive, 60 bucks Canadian. - See, I'm gonna need a Canadian translator right there. That seems like a good deal American. - Yeah, so that's about $42. - Okay, so that's a good deal for a 1TB hard drive. - Here, I'm gonna go borrow a pen and paper or something. - Okay, that's a good idea. - Where-Oh right, what am I doing?[AUSTIN LAUGHS]- What if we go G3258?- We could do G3258. - That could work, right?- We discovered that certain newer games,I believe. . . [LINUS SNAPS]- Far-Cry 4. - Far-Cry 4, and Grand Theft Auto were among them,- Mhm. - simply don't run well on a dual-core anymore. - Should we try to get a multi-function printer into the budget?- That will totally work. $100 for a printer. I mean, everyone needs a $100 printer with their $500 gaming PC. - 860K, right there. - 860K. - 92 dollars. - 92 dolla. - Well, I guess that makes sense,U. S. that's about what it would cost, like, it's, like, usually, like, $80? - Yeah, like 70 bucks?- Something like that?- So that's actually a good deal. - Oh here's a 950. $220?Oh man, I really wanted to use a 950. I did not realize it was going to be that expensive. - We might be able to squeeze it. I did not realize it was going to be that expensive. - Like, $250 for a 960. Doesn't that sound right?- The 950 is $220. Could we squeeze another $30 and get a 960?- Dude, that's $250 for the graphics card in a $500 build, that would be tricky. - $250 Canadian. - $200 U. S. effectively, like. . . [AUSTIN EXHALES]- $190 U. S. , really. - Hold on,what about this Cooler Master Elite 350 with the 500W power supply?- Oh!- Hmm. - 63 bucks, including power supply. It's not a great 500W-- I'm sure it's not. - but it should be okay. - If we do this, it's $63. What were we gonna pay?Like, $40 for the power supply?- Yeah, we were gonna pay $40 for the power supply before,so unless we were getting a case for $23,which we are not. - Okay, so basically right now,We think we've got -I'm feeling pretty good about this. I feel pretty good. - We actually have $50 left, which is a first for a $500 build. That's a lot of money. - First things first,The uh. . . processor's not in stock. [BOTH INHALE][BOTH IMITATE SAD TRUMPET]- So you have the 6300 in stock?- FX-6300?- Yes. - So. . . - That's $670. - $10 over your $500 budget. Why don't you just be somewhat flexible for once in your life, Austin?- This is. . . $670 Canadian. So we're being pretty flexible right now. But, I think that's too over. - Can you do $10-'cause, really it's only $7 over budget. - The title of this video is going to be $508 gaming PC build. [BOTH LAUGH]- How are you feeling right now?- I'm feeling good. I think we just got, like,a wicked system that is gonna completely bowl over your last $500 machine. - Yeah. a wicked system that is gonna completely bowl over your last $500 machine. a wicked system that is gonna completely bowl over your last $500 machine. - Now, I'm actually really surprised. I was like hoping maybe we could get a 950. But a 960-and it's a Strix!- So your processor, hybrid hard drive,- SSHD! hybrid hard drive,- SSHD! and your memory. - That's so cool. Oh man. I think we're in business. - I'm feeling good. - I think we got this. - Let's do this thang. - So this is the FX-6300. It's a 6-core,or a hex-core processor if you wanna be all fancy. This actually should be pretty good!I think,it might not be the greatest thing in the world for gaming, but,for what we're gonna do,especially with the 960,I mean, I probably wouldn't put like, you know,a pair of 980s with this thing, but. . . [AUSTIN SHRUGS][LINUS SHAKES CAMERA]- Oh man. I have not put together an AMD system in a while. Which means that I put this in completely backwards. - It's what it's worth because their platform hasn't change in the last. . . - Oh! - Oh![AUSTIN IMITATES EXPLOSION]- Alright, back to work. So, Linus, would you care to do the honors of exactly how you're supposed to put the thermal paste on?I heard you're supposed to put credit card-sized goop on top,and then you wipe it with your hand. Correct?- Okay, so, hold on, I'm following the instructions. credit card-sized,and then goop it with your hands? Is that what you said?- Oh, dude, people are going to kill us in the comments. [AUSTIN LAUGHS]- One of the six cores is probably right here?So that's why there's a concentration of thermal goop?- Man, this tutorial is off to a great start. See, like, I was so excited,'cause it was going to be, like, a great tutorial, people are gonna learn a lot of stuff,it's gonna be awesome and everyone gets their own PC,and then. . . this happens. - I have faith that you can get this one right. No, no, no![AUSTIN SIGHS][LINUS TRIES TO SLOT IN RAM REPEATEDLY]- Oh, sorry. - That one-this-that one-there you go. See, I was afraid you were a moron for a second, but, nah, I feel better now. - Do you have a knife on you?[KNIFE THUDS ON TABLE][KNIFE THUDS ON TABLE IN SLOW-MOTION]- Alright. The suit we actually bought here. This is where we saved all the money, right? So this was what, $70?- This is a case, [LINUS NODS CAMERA]with a 500W power supply. It's Cooler Master,so I think it should be alright. - 360W?What?- Where are you getting 150W?- Oh, 130W on the five. . . - Yeah, wow. . . - Great. - Oh. . . - I'm glad that we have a nice silver I/O shieldto go with our nice silver case. So everything matches, and it's super cheapness. - But hey, who cares? You're gonna be like-you're gonna have, like, so many FPS in your games, like, it won't even matter, like, your eyes are gonna be bleeding from, like, the awesomeness that you wouldn't be able to look at your case. - Dude, this is like, not a bad PC. - We have no no-name stuff. - Actually, that's a good point. Yeah, everything is. Everything's legit here. - This is actually a really simple build. Like, if this was, like, someone's first, like, PC. Like, this is really straightforward. There's not like anything too crazy, power supply comes pre-installed,um,everything's really nice, and I-even though I usually recommend, like,Micro-ATX cases,'cause they're a little smaller, and they tend to be a little cheaper, but, with something like this, you can definitely have a little bit more room to work. It's not anywhere near as cramped. - Man, these ca-I'm actually genuinely embarrassed about how bad these cables are now. - And here's the boring stuff that no one cares about but we have to show anyway, because we want to be thorough, and professional about our. . . videos full of d*ck jokes. - We are alive. - Alive!- Well, if it wants to, you know. - Yeah, it's a bit of a process. - I mean, that would be cool. Generally kind of helpful. - I'm gonna blame Austin if it doesn't load-- Oh! - Ah!- Welcome to the magnificence of the Borinator!Featuring: six cores of Boring,a graphics card that's actually not Boring,a case that's superty duper Boring, and an SSHD because Linus made me do it. Alright, so that is officially the Borinator. So, we signed it, so,whoever actually wins this -'cause we are going to be doing a giveaway-- Giveaway!- will get our signatures on the inside. - If you guys want to enter to win this thing, just leave a comment below this video, and make sure you're subscribed, and you might just win the Borinator. Also, there's something that you might wanna be checking out, like why I am just chilling in your place?- Scrapyard Wars 3![BOTH IMITATING EXPLOSIONS][LINUS IMITATING AN ELECTRIC GUITAR]- So guys, check out Scrapyard Wars 3,it is a 3-way between me, Luke, and Austin. - Enter the Borinator!- See you guys over there. Hadron $2000 Gaming PC Build - October 2019
Hey guys this is Austin. Meet the Hadron. With a watercooled Intel processor, graphicscard that’s ready to handle 4K wrapped up in a dope case from Fractal the Hadron isready for some serious gaming. The star of the show is Intel’s new Core i7-6700K. Asone of the new quad core Skylake processors not only is this one of the fastest CPUs outthere but it also now supports DDR4 memory. As a K series chip it’s also overclockablewhich is where the liquid cooling comes in. With a 120 millimeter radiator the CorsairH60 is more than enough to keep things running nice and cool. It’s easy to install andfairly compact, the fan just drops right into the rear vent in the case. Powering the graphicsis an Nvidia GTX 980Ti. When it comes to a single GPU card it’s hard to argue withthe 980Ti, it’s rocking six gigabytes of GDDR5 memory and a beastly GM200 GPU. Notonly does the card look great but it can handle gaming even at 4K. For a motherboard we’vegot the Asus Z170-A. This a great looking board that’s packed with features includingUSB 3. 1 and USB-C which goes a long way toward future proofing the PC. It’s also got greatVRM for overclocking, solid onboard audio and not only SATA 3 but also SATA Expressand M. 2 support. On the memory side we’ve got sixteen gigabytes of Corsair VengeanceDDR4 memory. Clocked at 2666 megahertz this is more than fast enough to handle anythingyou throw at it and with sixteen gigs it’s ready for things like photo and video editingin addition to gaming. Storage wise we’ve got the awesome Intel 750 Series SSD. With400 gigabytes of capacity it’s a big drive but the real draw are the ridiculous speeds, this is one of the fastest consumer drives you can get. For extra storage we’ve gota Western Digital Black hard drive. With one terabyte of capacity this is nice to keepextra files and games that you don’t need ludicrous speed to open. Powering the Hadronis a Corsair RM750. With 750 watts of capacity this is more than enough to handle the buildas is along with future upgrades. It's an efficient 80 Plus Gold supply that’s modularto keep cable management a bit neater. Housing all of this awesomeness is a Fractal DesignDefine S. I really like this case, it’s spacious and easy to work in and looks greatwith a window to show off the build. It’s impressively quiet and has great cable managementoptions like letting you mount hard drives behind the motherboard to keep things niceand clean. The hardware is definitely here but how does the Hadron perform? When it comesto Grand Theft Auto 5 we’re able to play at 4K on high settings at 50. 9 frames per second. Move over to Shadow of Mordor and again at 4K on high we’ve got 53 FPS. In Metro: Last Light Redux things are still totally playable at 4K with high settingsat 49 frames per second. With enough power to be both a gaming PC and a streaming and editing rig the Hadron isa rock solid build. As always the links to everything you need will be in the descriptionof this video. Also I’ve got to give a big shoutout to the Intel and Newegg Unlockedsite. It’s one stop for all kinds of cool content like interviews with totally randomYouTube people you’ve probably never heard of, first looks at new products and cool dealson Intel gear. Go give Unlocked a try and big thanks to Intel and Newegg for makingthis video possible! Anyway guys thank you so much for watching and I will catch youin the next one!

Is the Surface Laptop Worth It?
- Hey guys, this is Austin. This is the new Surface laptop. Is it worth it?A big shout out to Microsoft for hooking us upwith this Surface laptop early. Now this is not a sponsored video, but they're cool enough to let us take a lookat it before it actually goes on sale. So this is the mid-spec model. What I'm really curious to find outis what is a Surface laptop like to use?So Microsoft has been making Surfaces for quite a while, but they've definitely never done a laptop quite like this. There's the Surface Pro, which is much more like a tablet. And there's the Surface Book, which is kind of a laptopbut it also is detachable and its a little bit unwieldywhereas this is a proper, honest-to-goodness laptop. Did I just say honest-to-goodness?Inside we get the power adaptor. So what's cool about this one,and something that actually I thinkthat more people should do,is it actually has a USB port on the adaptor. So not only can you charge your Surface, but you can also plug something like your phone in. This, is the laptop itself. My first impression of the Surface laptopis that this feels like a really high end piece of hardware. So unlike previous Surfaces, which were made out of magnesium, this is all aluminum and it feels awesome. On top of that when you look on the inside, you'll see that instead of having a metal coverfor the keyboard, it's actually linedin this Alcantara fabric finish. What this allows Microsoft to dois offer some really cool looking colors. So this is burgundy, and I've gotta say,it looks like no other laptop I've ever tried. So on the inside, you still get that same Alcantara, but in the red, it really does pop. This Alcantara finish does feel nice, but I'm curious how it will hold upover a few months or years of use. I can definitely imagine with your palms sittingon the rest all the time that maybe it couldget a little bit stained or dirty. Now that's not a huge problemwith the Surface Pro 4 keyboard, which of course you can just take offand replace with something else, whereas with something like this, it's pretty much stuck on. I don't think there's any way of taking that. . . Nah, it's definitely not coming off there. For comparison, I've been spending a lot of timewith the LG gram lately. Now this is a very lightweight laptopwhich is nice in that definitely not the casewith the Surface laptop. Now that's not exactly a huge downside. That extra heft does make this feellike a very premium product, but also is going to weigh a bit extra in your bag. One slight issue with the Surface hardware are the ports. So on the right side, all we have is the magneticSurface connector, which is mostly used for chargingor dropping it on the dock. But on the other side, the only other ports we haveare a headphone jack, mini DisplayPort, as well as USB3. There's no USBC, there's no thunderbolt, and there's only that single USB port. It would be nice if there was a little bit more. Especially on a high end laptop like this. The big elephant in the room with the Surface laptopthough is Windows 10 S. Unlike the full standard version of Windows 10that most laptops come with, this guy is running the S edition. Now what this means is that it cannot run any appsthat are not from inside the Windows Store. However, say you wanna download some third party appsuch as Google Chrome, too bad,it's not going to be in the store. To be fair, there are a fair few appsthat are available in the store, such as Netflix, Facebook and VLC,but the issue is, say you need to install someweird piece of hardware that needs a program to set it up. Well, that wouldn't work on Windows 10 S,unless that driver's going to automatically installonce you plug the device in, you're out of luck. Now I get the general idea ofhaving Windows 10 S as an option. So say you're going to be buying a budget laptopand to save a few bucks, they decideto use the S version instead of Windows 10. Same thing goes for say if you're at schooland you want to make sure that the kidsaren't installing random malware. exe, that's fine, that's great. However, this is a $1300 laptop, and the idea that I can't even install Google Chromeon it is a big issue. The good news is you can upgrade the Surface laptopto full Windows 10 Pro for free. The only problem is, you can only dothat until the end of the year. After that, it will cost you $50 to do. The good thing is the upgrade from 10 S to Proactually only took about three minutes. And now we have the full copy of Windows on the laptop. Inside, the Surface laptop has fairly standard specs. So this is the mid-tier version, which will run you $1299, and for that, you get a seventh generation Core i5 processor, eight gigabytes of memory, as well as a 256 gig SSD. I feel like I'm going to keep making this comparison, but that's literally the exact same specas you get with the LG gram, which coincidentally costs a couple hundred dollars less. This guy is rocking a 13. 5 inch displaywith a weird resolution of 2256 by 1504. What that means is, it actually is a really nice display. Not only is it sharp, it has really nice color, contrast, viewing angles, all the standard stuffand to top it all off, it's a touch screen. Hey guys, this is Austin. My voice might be gone, but what isn't is the MacBook Air. What also isn't are the speakers. This actually sounds pretty good. The keyboard also is pretty solid. So it does feel very similar to what you would findon the Surface Pro 4 Type Cover, but that's not really a bad thing. Now with a Windows 10 laptop, generally I wanna use the touch screenmore than the trackpad, but as far as Windows trackpads go,I don't really have a lot to complain about at all here. Alright, so we are up and running with Overwatch. Now this is definitely not a gaming PC,but you can play some lighter titles. And here we're running at 900p on low and it is usable. However, luckily we have a professionalMLG Overwatch player, named Savage Kenny. - The frame rate is,not ideal, I mean we're hitting frame ratesthat are definitely usable. But if you're especially taking Overwatch very seriously,I find it really hard to like what I'm gettingout of this laptop. Oh my god. - Once you upgrade Windows 10 S, the Surface laptopis a solid piece of hardware. However the value is just a little bit hard to justify. Don't get me wrong, this is a terrific laptop, but for the price, you're definitely payinga little bit extra for that nice build qualityand for that terrific screen. So, what do you guys think about the Surface laptop?Let me know in the comments belowand I will catch you in the next one.
The Best Laptop Battery Life Yet?
- Hey guys, this is Austin. And this laptop might have some ofthe best battery life in the world. So this is the Gram 13,and big shout-out to LG for sponsoring this video. So not only is this supposed to have good battery life, but it's also a very lightweight laptop. So that Gram name isn't just for show. This guys weighs around a kilogram,or just over two pounds. So inside the box, we get the laptop itself, with a very handy little g to pick it up. Ooh!That was meaty. Wow, that is actually really weirdly light. Continuing on, we actually have a lot of accessories. Starting with a USB-C to Ethernet adapter?Really? So even though this is a 13 inch laptop,it's actually almost closerto an 11 inch laptop in footprint. As I shall demonstrate with this totally random, generic, no-name 11 inch laptop. Man, I feel like I'm gonna keep saying this, but this is so lightweight. So what's cool is, even though,(tapping)it almost feels like it's plastic, this is actually magnesium. Or rather, it's a nano carbon magnesium alloy. Ken made me put this on, by the way. He thought it would be funny. For such a thin laptop, there are actuallyquite a few ports. So on the left side, you'll find that there'sa charging port, USB-3, HDMI, as well as USB-C. And if you flip it over, you'll find there'sone more USB-3 port, a headphone jack,as well as a microSD card slot. I just like doing this. It's just so lightweight. It feels like, I don't know,it just feels like there's something missing. But it's just a really lightweight laptop. I think the build quality is actually somethingthat's really jumping out to me about the Gram. So if you guys saw my friend What's Insidewhen they took at look at the Gram, they actually put this thing through a lot of abuse. And LG claims they can handle something like400 pounds of pressure without breaking. The screen is flexible so it doesn't actually break. It's, for something so lightweight, more durable than you would think. Inside, the Gram 13 is powered by a dual-core i5-7200U,which is based on Kaby Lake,so it's pretty much as new as it gets, eight gigabytes of memory, as well as a 256 gigabyte SSD. (quiet music from speakers)The speakers are interesting. So they are kind of on the bottom, but they actually project sideways. So while they're maybe not quite as loud as I would like, they actually don't sound that bad. What's cool about having that full USB-C port,is that with a single cable,we can attach the Gram to a 4K monitor, and not only are we going to get that 4K video signal,we can also get charging to the laptop,as well as extra data via the USB ports on the monitor. So first impressions of the Gram are pretty solid. But what I really want to put to the test,is that battery life. (unzipping)(rustling)(thumping softly)See ya, Jimmy. - I'm gonna keep this for the weekend. - So the first thing that jumps out to meabout using the Gram, especially as I travel,is that weight. So after using a giant laptopfor the last year and a half or so,having something that's so light and so portableactually does make a difference. My bag feels like it weighs a lot less. But of course, the biggest part of the Gramis that battery life. So, it has been nearly four dayssince I took this off the charger, and let's see what the battery life is like. So, open it up here. Right now we're at 48%. That is not bad. Now, I have not used this thing lightly. So on top of being in standby for four days,I watched about three hours of Netflix, some YouTube, answered some emails, did some web browsing, and this has absolutely held up. Now I will say that you should turn battery saver on,that definitely does give you a fair bit extra battery life. But with a laptop like this, it kind of makes youuse it differently. So I was able to use the Gram one-handedwith the touchscreen. Mind you, it's not maybe the most comfortable wayof using a laptop in the world. But having something that's so lightweightwith a touchscreen actually does work out pretty well. Performance is pretty snappy. So with that Kaby Lake Core i5 processor,it easily handles any kind of basic usage, and even more moderate stuff like Photoshop runs no problem. Now you won't want to do a lot of heavy gaming,or especially video editing on this guy,but for pretty much 98% of what I do every day,it's completely fine. With a laptop like this, the inputs really do matter. And I don't really have any complaints about the Gram. So the keyboard itself is nicely spaced,it has plenty of key travel, and as an upgradefrom the previous Gram, it's fully backlit this time. The track pad is also pretty decent. So my only slight complaint is that it's maybenot quite as accurate as I'd like. But for the most part it's completely fine. And I ended up opting for the slightly upgradedversion of the Gram with the touchscreen, which definitely makes a big difference. I really do feel like Windows 10 laptopsshould all have touchscreens at this point. Speaking of, that screen is on-point. So don't let that 1080p resolution fool you. It really is more than enough for a 13 inch display, especially when you consider that the high-resolutionscreens usually do hurt battery life. More importantly, it's got a really solid IPS panel,so color, contrast, especially viewing angles are nice. It gets reasonably bright, even when you're outside. And because it has such thin bezels,it makes the overall laptop size a lot smallerthan it otherwise would be. The only issue with the small bezel,is that it puts the webcam on the bottom of the screen, which gives you a great view of the inside of your nose. One cool part about upgrading to the touchscreen modelis that it does come with a fingerprint reader. This is again something that I find I'm usingall the time on laptops. It's so nice to be able to use Windows Helloto drop your finger on the touch pad,and immediately log in. It is really nice to be able to take a laptopon a full-weekend trip and not even thinkabout taking the power adapter. So what do you guys think about the LG Gram?Let me know in the comments below, and I will catch you in the next one.
Why Does the MacBook Air Exist in 2018?
- Hey guys, this is Austin. My voice might be gone, but what isn't is the MacBook Air. Why does it still exist in 2017?Surprisingly Apple released a new version of theMacBook Air this week. It's a pretty minor upgrade, but for a computer that'sessentially been around unchanged since 2010,that's not bad. What's interesting about the Air is that this isactually still one of the most popularMacs that Apple sells. So while they have updated most of their other moremodern Macs, I think a lot of people look at the Airand say, yeah, that's all I need. Inside we get the Air itself. Now to be fair, this design really has not changedsince 2010, but it's still a nice looking laptop. So it's all metal and it's maybe not quite as niceas something like some of the newer MacBooks, but this is not an old, terrible piece of hardware at all. One nice thing that hasn't changed is MagSafe. So while there are a lot of advantages to going withUSB-C and Thunderbolt, there's something really niceabout having a magnetic cable that, if you say, tripand fall over your cable,And yes, I'm looking at you, Ken. (crashing)Open up the Air and you should seethat it looks very familiar. Now that's not a huge downside. So the keyboard, the track pad,and especially the build quality does feel good. And especially in 2010, this was pretty solid. But when you're buying a laptop that literally cameout today and it looks exactly the same as somethingthat came out seven years ago, you've got a problem. The first thing that jumps out to me when usingthis Air, is how bad the screen is. So while some things from 2010 holdup pretty well, that TN panel definitely does not. So it has a 13. 3-inch displaywith a 1,440 by 900 resolution. Low, but not the end of the world. However, the color, and especially with the viewing angleshere, are terrible. I mean, look at this. You can barely see it. I get it straight you can kind of see it a little bit. But it's so bad. For a thousand dollar laptop, this should be a deal breaker. So to put things in perspective, this is the LG Gram. And I'm gonna be doing a video on this soon, but this is also a thousand dollar laptop. And when you go look at the screen on thiscompared to the MacBook Air, it's not even close. Now if Apple wants to keep sellingthe MacBook Air in 2017, by all means go ahead. There are legitimate advantages to having a MacBooklike this still around. But the fact that they have not updated the screenin this many years and it looks this bad, is crazy. If this screen was on a $200 laptopI would complain about it. On a thousand dollar laptop? No. To be fair, it's not all bad with the MacBook Air. So this is the new 12-inch MacBook. Now this is kind of the successor to the Airand it is a very small and thin laptop. And when you put it side-by-side with the Air,you'll see that it is a much, much smaller laptop. It's definitely not perfect though. So this is a USB-C port. While that's a nice thing to have on a laptop,it is the only port on the 12-inch MacBook. Now that can cause some big problems when it comesto using one single port to not only charge the computerbut connect to an external monitor, connect to USB accessories, it all has to happenthrough this single port. Whereas on the 13-inch Air, that is not a problem. This guy has a mini DisplayPort that also doublesas Thunderbolt 2, a full size USB 3, SD card reader, and on the flip side, you have one more USB 3 port,as well as the MagSafe power adapter. So while the MacBook Air is not the perfect laptopit definitely is not dongle life ready. The Air has seen an update for 2017, but the upgradeis incredibly minor. So it's gone from a 1. 6 to a 1. 8 gigahertzCore i5 processor, but it still has the same eight gigabytesof memory and 128 gigs of SSD storage. What hasn't changed is the actual processors inside. So the Air's still rocking a 5th Gen Core processor, whereas pretty much all of the MacBooks and most Windowslaptops these days are on the 7th Gen. It really feels like an upgrade just to say, hey look guys,we can put the 2017 badge on it now. Take a look at performance and the Airhas definitely fallen behind. So not only is it slower than the 12-inch MacBook, which has a much lower power Core m3 processor. It's also much slower than the LG Gram, which isabout the same price, but has a much newer Core i5. To be fair, performance is not the be all, end allfor the MacBook Air. One of the other big advantages here is battery life. So with the way the 13-inch is specced with it'sfairly large battery, you should expect around 14 hourson a charge, which is really solid. The only issue is other laptops, such as the Gram, have absolutely caught up to that number. One area where the Air definitely does hold up iswith the keyboard and trackpad. So the keyboard itself actually still feels pretty decent. I slightly prefer what you get on the newer MacBooks. But I do think a lot of people like the extrakey travel. And the trackpad is good. So again, it's not quite as new and quite as niceas some of the newer Force Touch trackpads, but I still feel like this is a better trackpadthan pretty much any Windows laptop you can buy. When it comes to actually using the Air,it does feel reasonably snappy. So yes, if you look at it compared to something elseon a benchmark, it's not going to be as fast. For more basic usage like web browsing, which honestlyis probably what everyone does on MacBook Airs anyway,it does feel pretty good. The screen definitely does let it down, but besidesthat it's a pretty solid machine. The value proposition with the MacBook Airis a little bit weird. So on one hand it's $300 cheaper than any other MacBookthat you could pick up. On the other, it hasn't really been thoroughly updatedin quite a few years. It also only comes with a 128 gigabyte SSDin the base configuration. Now if this is just your Facebook machine, then sure, that can work out. But other than that, once you start upgrading itit just doesn't make any sense. The MacBook Air was a really impressive laptopwhen it came out in 2010. However, if you're buying a new laptop in 2017,it just doesn't make sense. So what do you guys think about the MacBook Air?Let me know in the comments belowand I will catch you in the next one.
